Loyalist Township, located in Lennox and Addington County, lies immediately to the west of the City of Kingston and was created on January 1, 1998 after the amalgamation of Ernestown Township, Amherst Island Township, as well as the Village of Bath. The bus service, comprised of Route 10 to Amherstview, was solely operated by Loyalist Township Transit from 1998 to 2002, when the single MCI 'Classic' bus was sold to Kingston Transit. Today Loyalist Township do not own any buses, instead they pay an operating subsidy to Kingston Transit for the operation of Route 10 between the Kingston Centre and Amherstview. For several years a number of buses ran in service with a Loyalist Township Transit logo, painted on old bus stop signs, affixed below the drivers window to show Loyalist Township's contribution. However all these plates were eventually removed. In 2005 Loyalist Township proposed purchasing a single bus, which would be maintained by Kingston Transit, to be used on Route 10, but nothing came out of this. |
